A long career as a personnel manager for a top Plc company, specialising in personnel and payroll information systems, is the background to Ian's current freelance work as a writer and lecturer in payroll matters. He is an experienced and attentive tutor, a staunch advocate of payroll professionalism and enjoys a wide following for his analysis of payroll and personnel systems, issues and related legislation.

Ken's experience in 'payroll' of over 30 years includes running Payroll Alliance for 6 years and sitting on various Inland Revenue and other governmental consultative panels, and also writing extensively on payroll matters. He therefore brings with him a deep understanding of his subject, both practical and legislative, and delivers his subject in a very clear, concise manner, interspersed with practical tips and his own brand of humour, which livens up any presentation he gives.

Ken is also the AAT's Chief Assessor for the NVQ's/SVQ's in Payroll Administration.

With over 20 years in practice as an accountant, Nigel has built up a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Income Tax and National Insurance. In his presentations for Payroll Solutions, he combines this experience with a friendly and practical approach that is much appreciated by delegates.
  


Rose Howley MIPPM Dip

Rose has over 23 years of experience in accountancy, employment law and payroll working in both the private and public sector.  She started her career working for the local government within their accountancy department before moving to one of the leading accountancy firms where she held a number of  management positions specialising in finance, payroll and taxation.  Some 6 years ago Rose moved into training and consultancy  industry.  She has Accountancy, Payroll and Employment Law qualifications that covers legislation in the both the UK and the Republic of Ireland. 

Rose has worked as a trainer and tutor for the IPP for over 3 years, teaching qualifications at all levels and presenting a full range of basic payroll and payroll management courses. She joined HRDPS in April 2004 to become HR/Payroll Training Consultant.   Rose has held training courses both at home and overseas and is regarded as one of the most experienced tutors currently in practice.  She specialises in employment law and the taxation system in the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man where she has recently written payroll courses covering the significant differences between all these countries.

Howard has 30 years experience in both the business and education fields. For the last 10 years he has been involved in the introduction of new qualifications for industry and colleges. He has been heavily involved in the introduction of NVQ and has assisted numerous candidates in the acquisition of qualifications in industry and colleges.

Kate was the Policy & Research Manager at the institute of Payroll Professionals, leaving in 2005 to set up her own company and is a regular conference speaker and writer on legislative issues. She is also a founder of TAKeUP Payroll Mentoring offering mentoring support to payroll professionals.

Until early 2003 she was the Payroll Legislation Manager at M & S.

 
Tim Kelsey, MIPP

Tim has 19 years experience in managing large payroll departments predominantly in the public sector, and is currently Payroll Manager at Buckinghamshire County Council. During this time he has had responsibility for payrolls covering up to 20,000 employees and pensioners based both in the UK and globally, and has processed payrolls from Dundee to Entebbe, Kingston Jamaica to Perth Western Australia! He has a wide ranging and practical experience of all the issues and problems encountered by the international payroller, and is an enthusiastic and patient tutor. He writes and lectures regularly on payroll issues, with particular emphasis on training in international payroll techniques. He also provides a mentoring service specifically aimed at the Payroll Profession.
